Ms. Kimberly Schon, West Irondequoit CSD’s Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, has submitted her letter of resignation to become the new Associate Executive Director of Section VI, the governing body of athletics in the Buffalo area. Her last day is scheduled for July 12.

The district expects to have a new director in place by November. Applications will be accepted starting Friday, June 14th (click here). A transition plan for the next few months will be announced soon.

“We extend our best wishes to Ms. Schon as she embarks on her next chapter,” said Dr. Aaron Johnson, Superintendent of Schools. “During her time in Irondequoit, she guided us through the challenges of COVID-19 and elevated our programs to new heights by expanding opportunities, reassessing programming and resources, and ensuring our facilities are in excellent condition. Ms. Schon's dedication to our district will leave a lasting impact.”

Ms. Schon has strong ties to the Buffalo area. She is a native of Lockport, just north of the city, and a former Athletic Director at Gowanda (south of Buffalo).

"It has been an incredible journey working here at West Irondequoit over the past seven years,” she said. “I have had the privilege to grow both personally and professionally. The experiences I have gained and the relationships I have built are invaluable to me. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the coaches, staff, students and community members. Their enthusiasm and commitment to our athletic programs have been inspiring and have made my time here immensely rewarding. Go Eagles!"
