Dr. Brenna Farrell has been selected as the West Irondequoit CSD’s next Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources with an anticipated approval by the Board of Education at its next meeting on July 9, 2024. Dr. Farrell has served the district for seven years, including the past four as Principal of Briarwood and Colebrook elementary schools.
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the teachers, staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members who have made my time as part of the Briarwood and Colebrook communities so rewarding. Their passion for education, commitment to our students' success, and unwavering support have been truly inspiring,” Dr. Farrell said. “I am excited for the new challenge to lead in a different way and contribute to the success of our district.”
Dr. Farrell will succeed Mrs. Michelle Cramer, who is retiring in late September, and over the summer assist with the transition to new leadership at Briarwood/Colebrook. The district will soon be posting the job to identify her replacement at those schools.

"
Dr. Farrell earned her Doctorate in Education, Teaching & Curriculum from the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education in 2022. She owns Master of Arts degrees in English Language and Literature from the University of Toledo and both Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Master of Arts in Education from Brooklyn College. She did her undergraduate work at Canisius College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology.
She took over as Principal at Briarwood and Colebrook in November of 2020 and has 11 years of experience as a school administrator. Dr. Farrell joined the West Irondequoit team in July of 2017 as the K-12 English Language Arts Curriculum Supervisor. Prior to that, she served as Director of ELA (grades 4-12) in the Rochester City School District and later its Executive Director of ELA.
A graduate of Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester, Dr. Farrell resides in the city with her two children.
