Thirty-nine Irondequoit High School business education students qualified for the DECA State Conference after strong performances in Tuesday’s regional competition at RIT. More than 900 students from 12 area schools competed and, as usual, IHS students flourished.

DECA (www.deca.org) enhances preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. DECA Club students leverage their experience to become academically prepared, community-oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders.

There are nearly 50 different competitive marketing events for students to participate in and learn about the field of marketing and management. Irondequoit students in Mrs. Bucciarelli, Mrs. Lent, Mrs. Turner and Mr. DiCesare's business classes tested their knowledge in their chosen event, which includes both team and individual events. There are only four finalists awarded for team events and five for individual events.

The winners earned the right to represent Monroe County (Region 10) at the DECA State Career Conference (SCC) March 5-7, 2025 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center where 2,500-plus students from around the state will compete. Here are the IHS qualifiers:
